Our Story - The Heart Behind SUEA
I was born and raised in the northeastern region of Thailand and moved to
Bangkok in 1991 to pursue my studies. My love for food blossomed during my
years working in sales within the telecommunications industry. Entertaining clients
often meant gathering over shared meals, and those moments sparked my passion
for discovering authentic Thai cuisine in every province we visited.
Celebrating project milestones with my engineering team, followed by heartfelt
thank-you dinners, became unforgettable memories. Although Bangkok offered
countless exceptional restaurants, I was always eager to venture further—to taste
the rich diversity of flavors that define Thailand’s culinary identity.
When hosting clients from the United States, I took great pride in introducing them
to Thai food. During one of those visits, I met my future husband. After our
wedding, he moved to Thailand and quickly fell in love with our vibrant street food
culture. He often marveled at the depth and complexity of Thai flavors and
wondered why such authenticity was so rare back home in the U.S.
Just before the COVID-19 pandemic, our family relocated to the United
States—and my dream began to take shape: to open a restaurant that captures
the essence of Thai cooking through a fresh, modern perspective using locally
sourced ingredients. I consulted with my sister, who runs a thriving Thai restaurant
in Washington State, and after exploring several possibilities, we chose Augusta,
Georgia—a city ready to experience real Thai flavor.


Our Executive Chef
Chef Akapon Choopo, also known as Chef George, is a highly experienced and versatile culinary professional with over 20 years of expertise in kitchen operations, menu development, and food design. Specializing in authentic Thai cuisine, Thai fusion, Chinese, Japanese, Western, Italian, French, German, and Mediterranean cuisines, as well as pastry, Chef George is renowned for his innovative dish creations and commitment to food safety and hygiene. ​
He has led pre-opening teams for international restaurants, trained culinary teams in Maldives, and developed menus for high-profile establishments such as Wine Connection and Destination Eats. ​ Currently serving as Department Manager Food Specialist at The Mall Group in Bangkok, Chef George excels in menu development, recipe costing, staff training, and implementing industry best practices. ​
With certifications in food safety and molecular gastronomy, Chef George is a dynamic leader who brings creativity, professionalism, and a passion for culinary excellence to every project.
